Currently on the market place there are many LED retrofit products such as the plug in lamp pictured here. These products unfortunately have limited use as they are restricted by base types, and can only fit into limited fixture types. Once the right lamp is selected for the type fixture, the lamp relies on typically old worn out sockets which often make for poor electrical connections. As well, these type LED replacement lamps generate a lot of heat which can melt sockets, or pose a risk of fire. At only 8 watts, the 4″ LED Module is smaller than a 26Watt PL lamp and has the same light output.
